ECB UPDATES:

ECB Update for Clubs and Leagues – 28 May 2020

Further delay to professional domestic cricket until 1st August - The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced a further delay to the start of the professional domestic cricket season, with no domestic cricket to be played before 1st August – the full announcement can be found HERE

ECB Update for Clubs and Leagues – 29 May 2020

Recreational Game update - The government confirmed that groups of six can meet outside from Monday June 1, provided people from different households observe social distancing (staying 2m apart). This applies to England, with the First Minister of Wales today announcing that people from two different households in the same local area can meet outside.

While this is good news, it is not an immediate ‘go’ for organised team sports. We are having discussions with Sport England and DCMS about what this means specifically for cricket, to then understand how we can support our clubs to initiate plans to get people back playing cricket – the full update can be found HERE

ECB respond to Government’s next steps for domestic and recreational cricket in England – 31 May 2020

The ECB issued the following statement:

“We are extremely heartened by Saturday’s announcement from the Secretary of State, which will support the return of professional, domestic cricket behind closed doors, and provides a meaningful next step for recreational players to begin playing at their clubs again.

“Over the coming week, we will seek to understand the specific guidance from Government’s medical teams so that we can provide support for cricket clubs who will be eager to see their communities safely playing in small groups.

“We extend our thanks to all those in Government who have worked hard to support the return of sport and we look forward to seeing players from across the game start returning to the field.”

As soon as we (HCL) have further clarification and receive the ECB’s guidance on small group practicing we will forward to all Clubs as well as announce on our website and social media platforms.
